KEY PARAMETERS
IC's - Many processors have a maximum operating frequency as one of the key parameters for assessing the processor's performance. But understanding why exceeding absolute maximum limits can cause damage is good place to start. There are so many variations to discuss in the IC sector, its wise to look at the maximum rating of any part for key parameters.
TRANSISTORS - When a transistor is on, the transistor will conduct the most current through its collector. So you need to look at the spec for maximum collector current which will be in Amps or milliAmps. The maximum collector voltage is sometimes called 'breakdown' voltage. The obvious things to start with are voltage, current, and power.
DIODES - Reverse recovery time, leakage current, Thermal resistivity, Forward bias, current, voltage.
THYRISTORS - A thyristor protects components against surge voltages by operating as a switch. It discharges the surge currents from the circuit to be protected to ground and limits the surge voltage induced. Maximum leakage current, switching voltage, switching current, peak off-state voltage.
FILTER's - Electronic filters are electronic circuits which perform signal processing functions, specifically intended to remove unwanted signal components and/or enhance wanted ones.
Attenuation, center frequency, bandwidth, insertion loss, input and output impedance.
OSCILLATORS - High Q, low noise figure, operation over supply voltage, resistance, load capacitance.
RECITIFIERS - Peak reverse voltage, Peak forward surge current, Forward voltage drop, current.
RESONATORS - resonant frequency, reactance, and Q-factor, phase noise.
SENSOR - High dynamic range, near IR capability, global shutter, high temperature range, low light sensitivity.
